(Guam Visitors Bureau)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Guam Visitors Bureau announced Friday that acting governor Ray Tenorio has signed a proclamation designating May 2017 as Tourism Month.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot only are we excited in joining the celebration of National Travel and Tourism Week across the United States, but we are going a step further by proclaiming May 2017 as Tourism Month here [in] Guam,\u201d said GVB president and CEO Nathan Denight. \u201cWe are celebrating the people who keep the visitor industry moving forward and the progress we\u2019ve made in the over 50 years tourism has existed in our island paradise. Tourism works to support more than 20,000 jobs in our community, fund projects and programs that sustain our Chamorro culture and improve the quality of life for everyone that calls Guam home.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The proclamation signing was followed by a Tourism Works award ceremony.
