{"id":252774,"date":"2017-05-23T06:00:16","date_gmt":"2017-05-22T20:00:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=252774"},"modified":"2017-05-23T06:00:16","modified_gmt":"2017-05-22T20:00:16","slug":"abstract-submission-deadline-extended","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/abstract-submission-deadline-extended\/","title":{"rendered":"Abstract submission deadline extended"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Northern Marianas Humanities Council has extended the submission deadline for paper abstracts for the 3rd Marianas History Conference.<\/p>\n<p>The new submission deadline is Friday, June 2, 2017.<\/p>\n<p>The conference will be held on Sept. 1-2, 2017, at the Fiesta Resort &amp; Spa Saipan.  It will cover a full range of topics associated with the archipelago\u2019s history.<\/p>\n<p>Papers may be submitted under the following general categories: Ancient Chamorro History; Early Colonial (17th \u2013 18th centuries); Late Colonial (19th \u2013 early 20th centuries); World War II; Recent (post-war); and Oral History and Genealogical Research.  The organizers also encourage student presentations.<\/p>\n<p>Paper abstracts with a maximum of 150 words and the presenter\u2019s bio may be submitted via a link on the council webpage at www.northernmarianashumanities.org. <\/p>\n<p>The conference is open to the public and free of charge.
