(Erwin Encinares)\n\t\t\t\t<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<p>A total of 139 students finished high school at Saipan Southern High School last Thursday, with valedictorian Marylyn Y. Tabuena leading the graduates in their march toward higher education.<\/p>\n<p>Tabuena, who plans to take up accounting at the Northern Marianas College, plans to work here first. \u201cAfter two years, I am planning to go to Washington [state] for my master\u2019s.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tabuena also received the lieutenant governor\u2019s Leadership Award and the Board of Education award.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was so surprised I had to ask the administrator if they were joking with me. I did not expect to be valedictorian at all. I was expecting Top 10 at least but when I heard the news I was so thankful,\u201d she said, adding that she just found out about it a few days ago.<\/p>\n<p>Salutatorian Ezekiel V. Rafanan plans to attend the University of Portland in pursuit of a bachelor\u2019s degree in computer science.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom then on, I plan to go to graduate school or go to the Naval Academy,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>When asked if he has plans to return, Rafanan said that all he has planned for so far is getting to college. \u201cOnce I finish, I\u2019d see where it goes from there,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Rafanan, who also got the lieutenant governor\u2019s Leadership Award, the Commissioner\u2019s Award, and the governor\u2019s Leadership Award, is interested in pursuing a master\u2019s degree in computer science or any form of engineering.<\/p>\n<p>Desirae I.
