The driver of a car who was pulled over in Chalan Kanoa on Wednesday night for a traffic violation allegedly yielded methamphetamine or \u201cice\u201d and marijuana. <\/p>\n
Jeffrey Cabrera Magofna, 35, jobless, was arrested for illegal possession of crystal meth and marijuana.<\/p>\n
At a hearing on Friday, Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho imposed a $50,000 cash bail and set the preliminary hearing for June 22 at 9am.<\/p>\n
The Office of the Public Defender was appointed as counsel for Magofna. Assistant attorney general Jonathan Robert Glass Jr. appeared for the government.<\/p>\n
A police officer was driving a marked police car last Wednesday at 11:04pm along Konsolacion Street by Moon Light Poker in Chalan Kanoa when she saw a sedan with no front license plate traveling west.<\/p>\n
Dela Cruz activated her blue lights and approached the sedan, which then stopped in the parking lot of LF Restaurant across Moon Light Poker.<\/p>\n
Magofna opened the door and the officer saw another man on the passenger seat.<\/p>\n
The officer smelled a strong odor of marijuana from the inside of the car. The officer turned on her flashlight and observed a glass pipe located at the bottom on the left side of the driver\u2019s seat.<\/p>\n
The officer also saw an opened a pouch that contained baggies and syringes on the driver\u2019s chair.<\/p>\n
Magofna stated he does not have a driver\u2019s license.<\/p>\n
The officer procured the pouch that allegedly contained seven baggies with crystal-like substances, 32 empty baggies, and three syringes, and another pouch containing 11 baggies and $70 in cash.<\/p>\n
The crystal-like substance, which weighed 2.3 gross grams, later tested presumptive positive for the presence of meth.<\/p>\n
During an inventory of the vehicle, police allegedly found a crumpled newspaper containing two green leafy plants inside the center console compartment. The plants were presumptive positive for the presence of marijuana.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
