Inspectors intercepted methamphetamine or \u201cice\u201d hidden inside an orange tube-like container in the luggage of a Hong Kong passenger at the Francisco C. Ada-Saipan International Airport early yesterday morning. <\/p>\n
Nairu Li, 45, male, was arrested for unlawful importation of a controlled substance.<\/p>\n
The amount of seized \u201cice\u201d was not specified in court documents.<\/p>\n
The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration filed late afternoon yesterday a complaint against Li before the U.S. District Court for the NMI.<\/p>\n
According to DEA Task Force Officer Raymond M. Renguul, a Customs inspector was conducting a routine inspection yesterday at 1am on Li, who had arrived on a Hong Kong Airlines flight from Hong Kong.<\/p>\n
Renguul said the inspector asked Li if he had any cigarettes and that Li responded by removing a pack of Chinese brand cigarettes from the front pocket of his jacket.<\/p>\n
The inspector became suspicious after noticing that Li was visibly shaking as he was removing the cigarette pack. <\/p>\n
When the inspector opened Li\u2019s luggage, he saw a smaller bag that contained a box. The box contained a small roll of tin foil and a long plastic tube. <\/p>\n
He asked Li what the items were for, but the passenger did not respond.<\/p>\n
The inspector then requested assistance from another Customs inspector. One inspector then emptied out the smaller bag, where he observed an orange tube-like container.<\/p>\n
Renguul stated in his report that at the bottom of the tube was crystal-like substance that later tested presumptive positive for methamphetamine.<\/p>\n
