Members of the 2017 Liberation Day Committee met with vendors yesterday to finalize details before the Liberation Day festival grand opening tomorrow night, Saturday. <\/p>\n
Over 30 people representing the vendors met with the committee yesterday at the Saipan Mayor\u2019s Office. Some were concerned that they needed more space at the festival grounds.<\/p>\n
According to Maria Valentina Haberman, vendors are not allowed to extend their tents beyond what is already provided them by the committee.<\/p>\n
Vendors have also started to decorate their booths and many appeared enthusiastic about the coming festivities. <\/p>\n
The Liberation Day Committee decided that this year\u2019s festival would showcase family businesses. <\/p>\n
According to Haberman, the festival will revolve around community, culture, and service\u2014\u201cshort and sweet and straight to the point.\u201d <\/p>\n
She said the festival was shortened to 11 days to give these family businesses a chance to maximize their revenue and to also help out families who wanted to showcase their businesses but didn’t know how. <\/p>\n
The next set of vendors that will be part of the festival are businesses that participate and are accustomed to these kinds of events. <\/p>\n
The public should expect businesses showcasing a variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds and different cuisines.
