A 19-year-old Korean female was killed when a vehicle she was driving slammed into a traffic light pole and burst into flames near the Northern Marianas College in As Terlaje at midnight today, Saturday.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services spokesman Derek Gersonde said the victim, Soomin Jung, was trapped in the vehicle.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Gersonde said that Jung was later transported to the Commonwealth Health Center where a doctor pronounced her dead at 3:35am today.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Gersonde said DFEMS received a call from 911 at 12:55am about a vehicle on fire in As Terlaje.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Investigation showed that Jung was heading up As Terlaje Hill on her way home when she struck the traffic light pole head on.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Fire engulfed the vehicle, trapping Jung inside.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Firefighters managed to control the blaze at 1:10am.<\/p>\n
