Ralph DLG Torres has nominated James Diego Benavente to serve as a member of the Commonwealth Public Utilities Commission in a letter dated June 21, 2017.<\/p>\n<p>The governor believes that Benavente is highly qualified to fulfill the vital responsibilities of the commission. <\/p>\n<p>Benavente is a civil engineer and has been working in government service since 2013, starting at the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. and currently at the Bureau of Environmental and Coastal Quality.<\/p>\n<p>His appointment requires the confirmation by both the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth Legislature. <\/p>\n<p>If confirmed, he will serve a four-year term, which became vacant on May 24, 2016, and will expire on May 24, 2020. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gov.
