PDM Promoters, Inc. ditched its regular Saturday cleanup of the environs around Paseo de Marianas for a Thursday cleanup last June 22 and the activity yielded 680 lbs.<\/p>\n

Cleanup coordinator Sonia Siwa said they did the cleanup on a Thursday because it was summer break and members of the Saipan Awaodori have no classes.<\/p>\n

\u201cInstead of doing it on Saturday, we did it on Thursday as the kids had their free time,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

In all, a total of 25 members of the Saipan Awaodori team joined seven Kinpachi Restaurant staff during the cleanup, which happened from 9am to 11am last Thursday. <\/p>\n

The garbage they picked up consisted of plastic water bottles, Styrofoam containers, cigarette butts, plastic straws, beer cans, and glass bottles. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe did mostly roadside cleanup and taking out trash that was clogging the drainage,\u201d added Siwa. <\/p>\n

Siwa also thanked the Bureau of Environmental and Coastal Quality for once again helping PDM Promoters by waiving the fee for trash disposal. <\/p>\n

PDM Promoters\u2019 monthly cleanups are regularly held every Sunday and are supported by BECQ and the non-profit\u2019s major sponsors T Galleria and TSL Foundation. <\/p>\n

Siwa said T Galleria and TSL Foundation\u2019s support enables them to have the cleaning materials needed on their monthly cleanups. Kinpachi Restaurant provides the meal and snacks for the volunteers. <\/p>\n

Volunteers of PDM Promoters will be at it again in July for their seventh monthly cleanup this year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
