{"id":255230,"date":"2017-06-28T06:06:32","date_gmt":"2017-06-27T20:06:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=255230"},"modified":"2017-06-28T06:06:32","modified_gmt":"2017-06-27T20:06:32","slug":"prosecution-calls-3-witnesses-trial-ex-rota-cop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/prosecution-calls-3-witnesses-trial-ex-rota-cop\/","title":{"rendered":"Prosecution calls 3 more witnesses in trial of ex-Rota cop"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The prosecution called yesterday three more witnesses in the ongoing jury trial at Rota Courthouse of former Rota police officer Melvin Maratita Manglona.<\/p>\n<p>After the alleged 14-year-old victim completed her testimony, the prosecution called to the stand three more witnesses\u2014a teacher and two Rota police officers, Saipan Tribune learned.<\/p>\n<p>Chief prosecutor Michelle Harris and assistant attorney general Teri Tenorio will call more witnesses at the resumption of the trial today, Wednesday, at 8:30am.<\/p>\n<p>Defense counsel Brien Sers Nicholas is counsel for the 49-year-old Manglona.<\/p>\n<p>Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho is presiding over the trial.<\/p>\n<p>The government charged Manglona with two counts of sexual abuse of a minor in first degree and one count of disturbing the peace. He allegedly sexually abused the girl last July and Aug. 11, 2016.
