(Contributed Photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs recently accepted the Northern Marianas College\u2019s candidacy for specialized accreditation of its business programs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cObtaining ACBSP accreditation involves a very rigorous process that attests to the business programs\u2019 high quality and performance,\u201d said NMC president Dr. Carmen Fernandez. \u201cThis prestigious designation will bring honor not only to our business students but to our college as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Northern Marianas College is already accredited institution-wide by the Senior College and University Commission of the Western Association for Schools and Colleges.<\/p>\n<p>The ASBSP accreditation, once granted, will provide an extra layer of quality assurance, acknowledgement, and prestige for the college\u2019s business programs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are moving quickly to complete the self study and prepare for a site visit and other activities that are needed to complete the accreditation process,\u201d added Fernandez.<\/p>\n<p>ACBSP is a leading specialized accreditation body for business education. Its mission is to promote continuous improvement and recognize teaching excellence in the accreditation of business education programs throughout the world.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The organization accredits business, accounting, and business-related programs at the associate, baccalaureate, master, and doctorate degree levels.<\/p>\n<p>According to the ACBSP, it was recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation in 2001 and again in 2011, and was the first to offer specialized business accreditation at all degree levels.
