Ayuda invites public to fair<\/strong>
\nThe Ayuda Network, Inc. is inviting the public to a Community and Partnership Fair on Saturday, July 29, at the Filcom Pavilion\/Civic Center basketball court from 7:30am to 4pm. The purpose of the fair is to acknowledge and promote network partners for their 25 years of support and contributions to the Ayuda Network, Inc. and the 15 years of advocacy support and contributions to the Commonwealth Diabetes Coalition. A walk against diabetes<\/strong>
\nThe Ayuda Network, in coordination with the Commonwealth Diabetes Coalition, is inviting the community to join ithe Walk on Wednesday, or WOW, as part of a campaign to prevent diabetes. The theme for the run will be \u201cWalk, Roll, and Run, and Step Up to a Healthier Living.\u201d<\/p>\n

The walk will also serve as a celebration for the 15th anniversary of the Commonwealth Diabetes Coalition and the 25th anniversary of the Ayuda Network. <\/p>\n

The event will be held at the Minatchom Atdao Pavilion on July 19, 2017. Registration will start at 4:30pm. Walkers will take off at 5:30pm. <\/p>\n

The first 100 participants to register will get a free T-shirt. There will be free health screenings, fruits, and water for all walk participants. <\/p>\n

Military trainings<\/strong>
\nASAN, Guam<\/strong>\u2014The U.S. military will conduct training at Warning Area 517 on July 20 from 7am to 11pm <\/p>\n

The military will also conduct training at Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station Guam, Andersen South in Yigo, and the former Adm. Nimitz golf course in Barrigada on July 20 from noon to 11:55pm.<\/p>\n

It is recommended the public, fishermen and marine tour operators monitor the Coast Guard broadcast notice to mariners for advisories. <\/p>\n

These trainings are designed to enhance the readiness of military personnel. Residents in surrounding areas should not be alarmed if they see or hear increased activity associated with the trainings. <\/p>\n

W-517 is activated south of latitude 12\u00b0 40\u2019 00\u201dN. Santa Rosa Reef and Galvez Banks are open for public use. W-517 begins south of Guam and extends south-southwest in international waters. (PR)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sumay Mass at NBS<\/strong>
\nSANTA RITA, Guam<\/strong>\u2014U.S. Naval Base Guam commanding officer Capt. Hans Sholley is inviting former residents of Sumay village and their descendants to a Mass at the base on July 20. <\/p>\n

The event is coordinated with the Santa Rita Mayor\u2019s Office as part of the island\u2019s Liberation Day festivities. <\/p>\n

The Mass will be held 11am at the Sumay Cemetery, followed by a luncheon hosted by the mayor\u2019s office. Former Sumay residents and descendants may contact the Santa Rita Mayor\u2019s Office at 565-4337\/2514 to arrange access for the Mass.<\/p>\n

Sumay village was once known as the \u201cPearl of the Island\u201d before World War II. Evolving from a small fishing village to the agricultural and commercial hub for ships in the mid-1800s, it became an economically rich village by the 1930s. (PR)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Guam residents to visit Fena Cave
\nSANTA RITA, Guam<\/strong>\u2014As part of Liberation Day events, a site visit will be held at the Fena Cave located at the Naval Munitions Annex on U.S. Naval Base Guam on July 19. <\/p>\n

The visit, coordinated between Naval Base Guam and the Agat Mayor\u2019s Office, will precede a memorial held for Fena Cave Massacre victims at Old Agat Cemetery.<\/p>\n

After the cave visit, a memorial will be held at the cemetery.<\/p>\n

On July 19, 1944 the Fena Cave Massacre occurred, when Japanese soldiers killed more than 30 young men and women from Agat and Sumay with grenades and bayonets in the caves near Fena Lake. During the past several years, the NBG commanding officer has invited the victims\u2019 families to visit the cave as part of Liberation Day ceremonies. (PR)<\/p>\n

Free kid and teen camps this summer<\/strong>
\nChurch 360 will be hosting a free Kids\u2019 Camps on July 17-20, from 9am to noon, at Church 360 for ages 4-11. Kagman Community Church will also be hosting the same Kids\u2019 Camps on July 24-27, from 9am to noon.<\/p>\n

Church 360 will also be hosting free Teen Sports Clinics on July 17-20, from 2:30pm to 5pm at the Oleai sports complex. <\/p>\n

Kagman Community Church will also host the same Teen Sports Clinics on July 24-27, from 2:30pm to 5pm at the Kagman II basketball court and field. The Kagman Basketball Clinic will also be open to high school boys. <\/p>\n

Youth fishing derby on Rota on July 23<\/strong>
\nThe Rota Mayor\u2019s Office will be hosting a youth fishing derby at the Teteto Beach on Sunday, July 23, from 9am to 4pm. Interested participants must fill out application forms at the Rota Mayor\u2019s Office. Participants must be ages 5 to 8 and 9 to 12. There will be an orientation at the Teteto Pavilion on Sunday, July 23, at 8:30am. Cash prizes will be given to the participant who collects the most number of fish. Prizes are $75 for first place, $50 for second place, and $25 for third place. (MVA)<\/p>\n

MyPROS to host July 22 gala <\/strong>
\nThe Marianas Young Professionals will host a White Beach Gala at the Surf Club on July 22. Tickets can be purchased from any Events Committee member. Ongoing gambling survey<\/strong>
\nThe Substance Abuse & Rehabilitation Program is conducting a \u201cGambling Survey\u201d to gather baseline data in order to help determine if a further comprehensive screening tool or assessment is needed in regards to gambling in the CNMI.
