{"id":256806,"date":"2017-07-24T06:06:15","date_gmt":"2017-07-23T20:06:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=256806"},"modified":"2017-07-24T06:06:15","modified_gmt":"2017-07-23T20:06:15","slug":"hix-young-professional-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/hix-young-professional-year\/","title":{"rendered":"Hix is Young Professional of the Year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nola Hix, along with other club members, were presented with awards last Saturday at the second anniversary shindig of the Marianas Young Professionals, or MYPros, called the White Sand Gala at the Surf Rider Restaurant.<\/p>\n<p>Hix, who is a Xerox Corp. executive on Saipan, co-founded MYPros and is its vice president. The other award nominees were Bobby Cruz of the Public School System and Rob Travilla, founder and creator of the Salbahe brand and co-founder of Tribe Marianas in 2015.<\/p>\n<p>The group\u2019s Volunteer of the Year award went to Commonwealth Advocates for Recovery Efforts\u2019 Maxine Laszlo. Laszlo has been working with CARE as the AmeriCorps VISTA Resource Development coordinator. She bested two other nominees: Wayne Dawe, lead ranger of the Micronesia Islands Nature Alliance\u2019s Tasi Watch, and Jihan Buniag, the Bureau of Environmental and Coastal Quality\u2019s CNMI Coral Reef Initiative Program coordinator.<\/p>\n<p>The Bridge Capital Spotlight Award went to Sheila Babauta, who is the Office of the Governor\u2019s Capital Improvement Program contracting officer\u2019s technical representative. The other nominees were Commonwealth Office of Transit Authority special assistant for public transportation Alfreda Camacho, Hofschneider Engineering project engineer Emanuel \u201cManny\u201d Borja, and Marianas Geotech Services owner James \u201cBill\u201d Ripple.<\/p>\n<p>MYPros president Matt Deleon Guerrero, who works as the chief-of-staff of Gov.
