The Tinian and Aguiguan Legislative Delegation urged the Public School System last week to look carefully at its bidders to balance cost with quality of service.<\/p>\n
In a letter signed by delegation chair Sen. Jude Hofschneider (R-Tinian) addressed to PSS Education Commissioner Cynthia Deleon Guerrero, he urged the PSS chief to \u201ccarefully review\u201d bid submissions for the paving of the road and parking lot of the Tinian Elementary School.<\/p>\n
Currently, the head of the PSS Capital Improvement Projects Office is Glenn Mu\u00f1a. Mu\u00f1a would be overlooking all projects pertaining to PSS campuses throughout the CNMI.<\/p>\n
\u201cOftentimes, our procurement regulations that limit projects to the lowest qualified bidders ultimately result in change orders that delay projects and increase costs,\u201d said Hofschneider in the letter.<\/p>\n
\u201cCarefully review each bidding contractor\u2019s background to include the past projects completed, the quality of work produced, their overall financial statues, etc.\u201d <\/p>\n
The delegation urged PSS to do so in the belief that \u201cforthcoming improvements will reflect the desired results that will not only benefit PSS but, most especially, the students and parents.\u201d<\/p>\n
Deleon Guerrero has been looking to resolve many issues at the TES campus.<\/p>\n
