After a silence of 13 years, the indigenous musical festival \u201cKantan Isla\u201d will be revived. <\/p>\n
First established on Saipan in 1998, Kantan Isla became an annual event until it was abruptly stopped in 2004. <\/p>\n
The current Commonwealth Council of Arts and Culture decided it is about time to revive the tradition. <\/p>\n
According to folk art coordinator Gloriana Teuira, this will bring back the art of song writing and performances, even if it is only for an evening. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe want to motivate our youth to compose their own music in Chamorro and Carolinian,\u201d Teuira said. <\/p>\n
The tradition will also motivate local musicians to share their original pieces. <\/p>\n
The music festival would be held on Sept. 29, 2017, at the Garapan Fishing Base, from 5pm to 11pm. <\/p>\n

Teuira said the entire community is welcome to experience the joys of indigenous music. <\/p>\n
