Tydingco informed the CNMI Legislature on Monday that he has joined Imperial Pacific International (CNMI) as a \u201cgeneral counsel.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Tydingco, who has had a lengthy stint with the Guam Office of the Attorney General well as a private law career in the CNMI, informed lawmakers of his new role in a courtesy visit to both the House of Representatives and the Senate.<\/p>\n<p>IPI senior vice president for special projects Viola Alepuyo accompanied Tydingco in Monday\u2019s meetings.<\/p>\n<p>House Speaker Ralph Demapan (R-Saipan), Reps. Angel Demapan (R-Saipan), Frank Aguon (R-Saipan), Donald Barcinas (R-Saipan), John Paul Sablan (R-Saipan), Alice Igitol (R-Saipan), Lorenzo Deleon Guerrero (Ind-Saipan), and minority leader Rep. Edmund Villagomez (Ind-Saipan) welcomed Tydingco in Monday\u2019s meet and greet.<\/p>\n<p>Tydingco was also scheduled to meet with CNMI senators in a closed-door meeting.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Demapan said the CNMI is \u201cpleased to have him here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am very happy to see that somebody like [Tydingco] would join the company in that capacity, because I believe it is important for a company of this magnitude\u2026to have somebody in that position [who is] aware of cultural sensitivities in the Marianas,\u201d he said, adding that Tydingco\u2019s knowledge of the Marianas could help the company make better decisions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are very happy to see you and [IPI] has made a brilliant choice,\u201d Demapan said.<\/p>\n<p>Speaker Demapan echoed this. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith his experience and knowledge in the legal aspect\u2026I believe this will enhance IPI in their legal matters,\u201d he said, before thanking Tydingco for the courtesy visit. <\/p>\n<p>Although he had some questions for the new IPI counsel, Demapan said that Tydingco made clear that he merely had the job for three hours prior to meeting with the members of the Legislature.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am sure this would not be the [last time meeting him],\u201d said the speaker.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Former Guam chief prosecutor Phillip J.
