Bordallo and the Guam Public Defender Service Corp. announced Wednesday that PDSC will provide free notary public services for those completing applications under the Guam War Claims Program. <\/p>\n<p>A notary public from the PDSC will be available at Bordallo\u2019s office in Hag\u00e5t\u00f1a twice a month to provide the service free of charge to applicants. <\/p>\n<p>Those seeking the service can visit the office on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month from 9am to 11am.<\/p>\n<p>The Guam War Claims Program is authorized by the World War II Loyalty Recognition Act that became law on Dec. 23, 2016. The deadline for submitting an application is June 20, 2018. All completed applications must be notarized before being submitted to the Foreign Claims Settlement Commission.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are happy to partner with [Delegate] Bordallo\u2019s office to help provide notary service to Guam\u2019s War claimants,\u201d said Stephen P. Hattori, executive director of the Guam PDSC. <\/p>\n<p>PDSC currently provides notary service of legal documents the corporation prepares for its indigent clients who are either unable to afford the nominal cost of a notary public or are unable to avail of such services.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKnowing that our man\u2019\u00e5mko have waited decades to file war claims, we believe that allowing our notaries to assist in completing the process is the least we can do for the people of Guam,\u201d Hattori added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur man\u2019\u00e5mko have been waiting far too long to receive their war reparations, and we want to make this process as easy and accessible as possible,\u201d said Bordallo. \u201cMy office has distributed hundreds of applications to man\u2019\u00e5mko in our community and their family members in the past three months. I commend Guam\u2019s Public Defender Service Corp. for making its notaries available to applicants and partnering with my office to provide the service free of charge. PDCS notaries will be available at my district office in Hag\u00e5t\u00f1a twice a month and we hope that our survivors and decedents\u2019 families will utilize this service prior to submitting war claims applications to the Foreign Claims Settlement Commission.\u201d (PR)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>HAG\u00c5T\u00d1A, Guam\u2014Delegate Madeleine Z.
