Gov. Ralph DLG Torres on Thursday withdrew his sole nominee to the long-stagnant Commonwealth Public Utilities Commission.<\/p>\n
James Benavente is no longer a candidate to serve on the CPUC board, as per the candidate\u2019s request to Torres.<\/p>\n
According to a statement from the Torres administration, Benavente himself sought \u201cthe opportunity to focus\u201d on his professional engineering certification.<\/p>\n
Benavente is currently working on a civil engineering license. He was nominated by Torres last June 21, 2017, and is also working at the Bureau of Environmental and Coastal Quality. <\/p>\n
Benavente obtained his bachelor\u2019s in Civil Engineering at Boise State University in Boise, Idaho.<\/p>\n
\u201c\u2026 I have accepted his request to provide him the opportunity to focus on preparing for this rigorous examination. It speaks to his commitment to being a more effective public servant,\u201d said the Torres statement.<\/p>\n
\u201cI wish him the best of luck in obtaining his PE certification, and I look forward to reappointing him to CPUC at a later date,\u201d said the statement.<\/p>\n
