Ada\/Saipan International Airport, police said yesterday. <\/p>\n<p>Department of Public Safety spokesman Lt. Jason Tarkong said the victim is a 33-year-old Korean woman, but her name is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.<\/p>\n<p>Tarkong said police responded on Tuesday at 5:03pm to a reported missing swimmer at Obyan Beach.<\/p>\n<p>Tarkong said police met with witnesses and learned that the victim was swimming with her brother when they got swept outside the reef. <\/p>\n<p>The brother made it back inside the reef, however the victim was then missing. The report did not mention whether the brother was injured or not.<\/p>\n<p>Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services\u2019 Search and Rescue Unit (SARU) was activated, while DPS Boating Safety Section Zodiac rescue boat was launched for the search operation.<\/p>\n<p>Tarkong said at 6pm police officers recovered the victim on Obyan Beach with no pulse and not breathing<\/p>\n<p>The victim was then transported to the Commonwealth Health Center\u2019s emergency room where she was pronounced dead by a doctor. <\/p>\n<p>A source said the victim was last seen at 4:30pm. <\/p>\n<p>The incident happened despite Gov. Ralph DLG. Torres\u2019 issuance of a special marine advisory due to Tropical Storm Sanvu.
