Monroyo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Blue Babes posted mixed results in its pair of games in the women\u2019s open division of the Saipan leg of the 3&#215;3 Hoopfest Marianas 2017 last Wednesday night at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.<\/p>\n<p>Blue Babes first played against CTSI and won, 6-3. Tawnie Manibusan scored 3 points, while, Quina Flores and Gillian Villagomez had 2 and 1, respectively. Jasmine Phan, Dianne Pablo, and Michelle Kautz each scored a point for CTSI.<\/p>\n<p>Next up for Blue Babes was HiDaze and the latter earned an 11-7 triumph over the former. Mary Kay Alferos and Chevy Alipio made 5 points each to lead HiDaze\u2019s victory, while Manibusan paced Blue Babes with her 3 markers.<\/p>\n<p>In the third match in the division, HiDaze also downed PIC Siheky, 10-4. <\/p>\n<p>Chenille Espinosa tallied 4 points for HiDaze, which drew 3 markers each from Cassandra Camacho and Alipio.<\/p>\n<p>In the men\u2019s open division, Nik Nak pulled off a 15-12 win over Rollers 2. <\/p>\n<p>Mii Tekopua lifted Nik Nak over Rollers 2 after scoring 12 points, while Ben Lisua had 8 for the losing squad.<\/p>\n<p>Other winners in the men\u2019s open division games were Trilogy, Paki 3\u2019s, Dark Horse, Almost, and Ol\u2019Aces.<\/p>\n<p>The Ol\u2019Aces denied Nik Nak back-to-back victories last Wednesday after recording a 14-10 triumph in their duel. Dan Barcinas and Douglas Schmidt fired 7 and 5, respectively, in the Ol\u2019Aces\u2019 second win in as many games. Dennis Moses led Nik Nak with his 5 markers.<\/p>\n<p>Trilogy edged Rollers 1, 12-10, behind the 3 straight points of Jerome Norita. Norita finished with 4 points, the same output Trilogy got from Pete Lizama.<\/p>\n<p>Trilogy missed going 2-for-2 on Day 3 of the tournament after they were beaten by Paki 3\u2019s, 21-16.  Leo Galarse sizzled for Paki 3\u2019s after dropping 12 points.<\/p>\n<p>Dark Horse eked out a 15-14 win over Pacific Islands Club 1, thanks to the 4 consecutive points of Edwin Camacho. Camacho took over from Maverick Saures, who  had a string of 5 points before the former delivered in the homestretch.<\/p>\n<p>Almost  also leaned on the straight baskets (3) of Benwachi Taisacan to slip past PIC 2, 17-4.  <\/p>\n<p>Before Taisacan\u2019s heroics, Leroy Rangamar starred for Almost, firing 9 points.<\/p>\n<p>In the U19 division, the Warriors eased past Ballerz, 12-5.  Henry Aguon had 6 points for the Warriors.<\/p>\n<p>Mix Breed, on the other hand, labored a 17-13 win over the Warriors to deny the latter their third victory in a row. Coby Santos made 8 points for Mix Breed.<\/p>\n<p>In the two other matches in the boys U19 division, Island3rz edged V-God, 16-15, while the Ol\u2019Aces 2 prevailed over LeAir Ballers, 17-14.<\/p>\n<p>John Romeo Malasarte knocked in the go-ahead basket for Islands3rz, his lone field goal in the closely fought match.  Roberto Paragados Jr. top-scored for Islands3rz with his 12 points. <\/p>\n<p>Atan Aiferson and Kelvin Kabiriel combined for 15 points in the Ol\u2019Aces 2\u2019s victory versus LeAir Ballers.<\/p>\n<p>In the boys U16 division, Young Ballers and Baller Bros posted contrasting wins.
