The Inaugural Foam & Fun 5K on Saipan that was organized by Triple J benefitted two non-profit organizations: the Commonwealth Cancer Association and to the Make-a-Wish Foundation, with each getting $10,000.<\/p>\n
Last Friday, at the Surf Club Saipan, Triple J officials presented $10,000 to the Commonwealth Cancer Association and another $10,000 to the Make-a-Wish Foundation. <\/p>\n
CCA executive director Juan Babauta said the donation is a huge help because the organization needs all the money it can get to provide for cancer patients who have returned from treatment. <\/p>\n
\u201cOne of our programs that is really in need is direct services to our clients who are returning from treatment,\u201d said Babauta. <\/p>\n
CCA provides medical equipment to these individuals, nutritional supplements, as well as support for cancer patients. <\/p>\n
Some of the money the CCA received will also help the Commonwealth Health Center in upgrading its current mammographic equipment.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt will add accuracy and clear imaging in the process of early screening and early diagnosis of breast cancer,\u201d said Babauta. <\/p>\n
CCA board secretary Bobbi Grizzard said the association is grateful that Triple J recognizes the importance of supporting their mission. <\/p>\n
The other beneficiary was the local Make-A-Wish Foundation, which focuses on granting wishes for children who face life-threatening conditions. <\/p>\n
According to Make-A-Wish Foundation board member Kanae Quinn, the foundation is currently in the middle of granting a wish. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe have one wish kid coming up soon and her wish is to either go to the Philippines and visit her great grandparents or to go to Disneyland,\u201d said Quinn. <\/p>\n
She said the donation would go to funding the child\u2019s transportation, hotel, and other expenses. <\/p>\n
According to Make-A-Wish Foundation board member Eleanor Cabrera, it came as a surprise that the group was chosen to benefit from the Foam & Fun 5K. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
