Barcinas has been promoted to lead the white-collar crime and public corruption unit of the Office of the Attorney General. <\/p>\n<p>In an OAG statement yesterday, it said that Barcinas replaces former prosecutor Matt Baisley, who left the office in July. <\/p>\n<p>Barcinas will be responsible for the prosecution of white collar crime and public corruption cases in the CNMI of which she strongly aims to prosecute to the fullest extent possible under law. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Barcinas to lead the unit,\u201d said Attorney General Edward Manibusan. \u201cIt is evident through her hard work that Ms. Barcinas will continue to succeed in our office and, most importantly, in her new role. I can attest to her capabilities and her commitment to serve the people of the CNMI.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Through a memorandum of agreement between the Office of the Attorney General, the Office of the Public Auditor, and the Department of Public Safety, Barcinas will continue to work in conjunction with these agencies as a joint multi-task force member. <strong>(OAG)<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Assistant attorney general Heather P.
