{"id":261214,"date":"2017-09-28T06:00:52","date_gmt":"2017-09-27T20:00:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=261214"},"modified":"2017-09-28T06:00:52","modified_gmt":"2017-09-27T20:00:52","slug":"hunter-dcca-much-better-shape","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/hunter-dcca-much-better-shape\/","title":{"rendered":"Hunter: DCCA in much better shape"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Department of Community and Cultural Affairs was given a nearly 18-percent increase in its 2018 fiscal year budget compared to its budget last fiscal year and, according to DCCA Secretary Robert, that puts his department in better shape.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere were minor changes made to the DCCA budget but I think we\u2019re in much better shape than we\u2019ve been in many, many years,\u201d said Hunter.<\/p>\n<p>The department consists of 10 different branches with individual programs. <\/p>\n<p>Hunter, who was present at the budget signing last Tuesday at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center, said the bump in their budget allows them to continue with their community assistance and programs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEach division has its own priorities, programs, and services\u2026[and with the increase] we will be able to provide better services that we weren\u2019t providing before,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p>For fiscal year 2018, the department was appropriated $3,014,448\u2014a 17-percent increase compared to the $2,568,443 it got last fiscal year. <\/p>\n<p>Aside from the general projects and programs that the department proposed funds for, Hunter said his proposed budget also included a request for funding that will give the department the capability to get the human remains that are stored in the local museum storage analyzed and re-interred, since they have been in storage for nearly 20 years. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt has been included, up to a particular point,\u201d said Hunter. <\/p>\n<p>The department was appropriated $1,923,543 for its 72 employed personnel, $887,754 for overall operations, and $203,151 to cover the cost of utilities. <\/p>\n<p>Hunter said that that, fortunately, there weren\u2019t any major cuts to their department and they were able to receive a little more than what they originally proposed and what they had negotiated for with the Office of Management and Budget.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Department of Community and Cultural Affairs was given a nearly 18-percent increase in its&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":24,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[4],"tags":[20,34],"class_list":["post-261214","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-local-news","tag-budget","tag-dcca"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/261214","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/24"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=261214"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/261214\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=261214"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=261214"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=261214"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
