Northern Marianas Sports Association president Michael White is reminding all federations sending athletes, coaches, and officials to the 2017 Pacific Mini Games to submit their requirements in time for Saturday\u2019s deadline.<\/p>\n
The 10th edition of the Mini Games is set from Dec. 4 to 15 in Port Vila, Vanuatu with the CNMI competing in 3×3 basketball, athletics, golf, rugby 7s, and weightlifting.<\/p>\n
NMSA had established the Sept. 30 deadline for the CNMI delegation\u2019s accreditation to give White the chance to make sure all their documents are complete and would not encounter any problems in getting certified from the hosts.<\/p>\n
\u201cPlease note the final and immutable deadline for accrediting athletes is Oct. 20. However, in order to promote good planning, minimize any possible uncorrectable mistakes, and avoid a last-minute crush, NMSA has established a Sept. 30 deadline to accredit all CNMI athletes,\u201d said White.<\/p>\n
\u201cI will do my best to accommodate you after that date, but I cannot guarantee that your athletes will be accredited,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
The five federations competing in the Vanuatu Mini Games could submit and have as many athletes accredited. They could trim down their selections at a later date, but could no longer add an athlete or official after the Oct. 20 deadline.<\/p>\n
White would only need the name and capacity\u2014an athlete, coach, or official\u2014for those who have been previously accredited in Micronesian Games, Pacific Games, or Mini Games. For first-timers, they must submit the business page of their passport and a passport size photo with white background and not wearing a hat.<\/p>\n
The Vanuatu Mini Games is the scaled down version of the Pacific Games. It was originally set in September, but Cyclone Pam delayed the preparations being done by the organizing committee. Archery, beach volleyball, boxing, football, judo, karate, netball, table tennis, and tennis are the other sports on the Mini Games calendar.<\/p>\n
Richard Sikkel is the CNMI\u2019s chef de mission and would be in charge of arranging the delegation\u2019s accommodations at the Athletes Village, the daily meals, and transportation to and from the venues, and supervise all the team\u2019s other needs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
