The Northern Marianas Humanities Council is soliciting nominations for the 2017 Governor\u2019s Humanities Awards.<\/p>\n
This event, held annually in October as a part of CNMI Humanities Month, recognizes outstanding contributions to the humanities by individuals and organizations in the community.<\/p>\n
Nominees should have a notable humanities achievement in the past year, as demonstrated in any of the following four categories: <\/p>\n
Research and Publication in the Humanities;<\/p>\n
Preservation of Traditional Cultural Practices;<\/p>\n
Preservation of CNMI History;<\/p>\n
Outstanding Humanities Teacher (in both classroom and non-classroom settings).<\/p>\n
A fifth category, Lifetime Achievement, recognizes significant contributions to the humanities over multiple decades. This award may be given posthumously. <\/p>\n
Nomination form and instructions may be picked up at the council\u2019s office in the Springs Plaza Building, Gualo Rai or can be downloaded as the council\u2019s website.<\/p>\n
Nominations are due no later than 4:30pm on Friday, Oct. 13.<\/p>\n
Awards will be presented during the Governor\u2019s Humanities Awards in late October at a time, date, and venue TBA.<\/p>\n
