{"id":261542,"date":"2017-10-03T06:10:31","date_gmt":"2017-10-02T20:10:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=261542"},"modified":"2017-10-03T06:10:31","modified_gmt":"2017-10-02T20:10:31","slug":"call-nominations-2017-humanities-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/call-nominations-2017-humanities-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for nominations 2017 Humanities Awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Northern Marianas Humanities Council is soliciting nominations for the 2017 Governor\u2019s Humanities Awards.<\/p>\n<p>This event, held annually in October as a part of CNMI Humanities Month, recognizes outstanding contributions to the humanities by individuals and organizations in the community.<\/p>\n<p>Nominees should have a notable humanities achievement in the past year, as demonstrated in any of the following four categories: <\/p>\n<p>Research and Publication in the Humanities;<\/p>\n<p>Preservation of Traditional Cultural Practices;<\/p>\n<p>Preservation of CNMI History;<\/p>\n<p>Outstanding Humanities Teacher (in both classroom and non-classroom settings).<\/p>\n<p>A fifth category, Lifetime Achievement, recognizes significant contributions to the humanities over multiple decades.  This award may be given posthumously. <\/p>\n<p>Nomination form and instructions may be picked up at the council\u2019s office in the Springs Plaza Building, Gualo Rai or can be downloaded as the council\u2019s website.<\/p>\n<p>Nominations are due no later than 4:30pm on Friday, Oct. 13.<\/p>\n<p>Awards will be presented during the Governor\u2019s Humanities Awards in late October at a time, date, and venue TBA.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, contact council staff at 235-4785.
