{"id":261755,"date":"2017-10-06T06:00:40","date_gmt":"2017-10-05T20:00:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=261755"},"modified":"2017-10-06T06:00:40","modified_gmt":"2017-10-05T20:00:40","slug":"sbl-start-saturday-games-u25-masters","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/sbl-start-saturday-games-u25-masters\/","title":{"rendered":"SBL to start Saturday games for U25, Masters"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Saipan Baseball League will be starting with their Saturday games this weekend, Oct. 7, to allow both divisions\u2014Under-25 and Masters\u2014to finish the season later this year or early January 2018.<\/p>\n<p>SBL director Tony Rogolifoi said that the unpredictable weather has been a huge problem for them as they were forced to either stop or cancel scheduled games.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re going to start playing the rained-out games this Saturday so we can catch up with the original schedule. We\u2019re hoping to finish both seasons before the Little League, which usually starts in January,\u201d said Rogolifoi.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe thought we chose a perfect month for the season, but the weather is unpredictable and not cooperating with us. It will be bright and sunny early in the day then it would rain hard in the afternoon, making the field unplayable. There were also times when it would rain while we\u2019re in the middle of the game.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Saturday\u2019s games will have the U25 playing at 10am, while the Masters take the field at 6:30pm.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have no choice. We need to have extra games every Saturday in order for us to finish the season before the year ends,\u201d said Rogolifoi.<\/p>\n<p>Games in both divisions were not played for more than a week because of the unpredictable weather.<\/p>\n<p>According to the U25\u2019s original schedule, the finals would start on Dec. 14, while the title match for the Masters is set early December.
