Child\u2019s poem (1844) Over the River and Through the Wood<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nIf you have never baked from scratch a pumpkin pie<br \/>\nassemble, mix all the fresh ingredients and give it a try<br \/>\nwhen viewing the final product folks say, Oh my gosh!<br \/>\ndid you actually bake that from a hard orange squash?<br \/>\nchop up and boil or steam the insides of a pumpkin<br \/>\nmix the milk and eggs and spices and dump them in<br \/>\nfor spices use cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, mace<br \/>\nbuy two, carve a scary or funny smile gap toothed face<br \/>\nand while you are carving your orange jack-o-lantern<br \/>\ndon\u2019t forget please don\u2019t let that tender pie crust burn<br \/>\nyes, I have two older brothers Michael and Peter<br \/>\nwho along with us younger ones are great pie eaters<br \/>\nI had enough pie, next muffins I bake to stuff my gut<br \/>\nI\u2019ll use an oblong tan colored squash called a butternut.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cHurrah for the fun!
