Education Commissioner Cynthia Deleon Guerrero has been terminated from her post.<\/p>\n

In an email message addressed to all Public School System staff, students, and families today, Deleon Guerrero said the CNMI Board of Education informed her of her termination in an email message, effective Nov. 5.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Deleon Guerrero is currently off island, attending a Head Start conference in Honolulu, Hawaii.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is with a heavy heart that I must inform you all that the [BOE] issued to me my contract termination letter, via email, effective Nov. 5, the day I\u2019m scheduled to return home from this Head Start conference,\u201d she said in her message.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Deleon Guerrero is the sole employee of the BOE and serves at its pleasure.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The BOE letter to Deleon Guerrero stated it to be a termination without cause.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cPlease know that I had in fact submitted to the board my letter of concern on Oct. 6, to which they never responded except for this termination letter, which I received upon landing in Honolulu.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cDespite the disruption that this will inevitably cause, I ask that everyone remains focused and strong in continuing our services, advocacy, and work for our students. Our students have and must remain our focus, your focus. I thank you all for your dedication and commitment to PSS,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
