Monroyo)<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Whispering Palms and Saipan International School made it to last week\u2019s honor roll after ruling their respective competitions.<br \/>\nWhispering Palms was crowned champion in the co-ed junior varsity division of the 2013-2014 Coalition of Private Schools Sports Association Volleyball League beating Saipan International School in the finals, 25-23, 25-22, at the\u00a0 Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium. The Terns advanced to the finals after eliminating Marianas Baptist Academy, while the Geckos marched into the title game after booting out Grace Christian Academy.<\/p>\n<p>After missing the championship in the COPSSA league, SIS bounced back in the 2013-2014 MISO Boys Volleyball League after clinching the boys high school title over GCA. The Geckos went undefeated in the round-robin tournament that started last Friday, securing the championship after a 27-25, 25-22 win in Game 1 of the finale against the Eagles.<br \/>\nIn other local tournaments, the Tan Holdings Tennis Classic kicked off its 2013 competition last Friday with the staging of the girls and boys junior singles events. Over 40 players were entered in Week 1 of the annual tournament.<br \/>\nIn the UFO Open league, two more teams secured semis tickets after I Love Ladder Beach eliminated Kanoa Resort and the Hoopaholics ousted Toka Degree. AXE Proa had earlier notched the first semis berth, while JP World\/Mobil and KB Market will fight for the last Final Four entry.<\/p>\n<p>Still in the UFO league, Blue Haus remained undefeated in the Masters division, while Pacific Islands Club entered the win column of the event being played at the Gillette Multipurpose Gymnasium.<br \/>\nOver at the Gualo Rai Basketball Court, regular season games in the DL Corp. caging continued with two matches decided by last-minute baskets.
