Birthday reception for Japan emperor<\/strong><\/p>\n

Japan Consul Kinji Shinoda will host a reception in honor of the birthday of the Emperor of Japan at the Fiesta Hall of the Grandvrio Resort on Tuesday, Dec. 5, from 6pm to 7:30pm. Around 150 guests from the CNMI government, Legislature, mayors\u2019 offices, business circles, the Japanese community and others are expected to join the reception. Emperor Akihito will become 84 years old on Dec. 23, and his birthday is celebrated as a national holiday in Japan. Akihito and Empress Michiko visited Saipan on June 27 and 28, 2005.<\/p>\n

The CNMI Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management will feature two stress management experts\u2014Wilma Villanueva and Christopher Cabrera of the Community Guidance Center\u2019s Wellness Center\u2014at its Nov. 30 membership meeting at the\u00a0Pacific Islands Club\u2019s Charley\u2019s Cabaret, from 11:30am to 1:30pm. The presentation includes the PIC lunch buffet at the cost of $20 for SHRM members and $30 for non-members. Small craft advisory<\/strong><\/p>\n

Based on the information received from the National Weather Service in Tiyan, Guam, and compiled at the CNMI Emergency Operations Center State Warning Point, a small craft advisory remains in effect until 6am today, Tuesday, for the islands of Rota, Tinian, and Saipan. Combined seas of 8 to 10 feet will reach 10 to 12 feet today. These will be hazardous for operators of small craft. Inexperienced mariners, especially those operating smaller vessels, should avoid sailing in these conditions. (PR)<\/p>\n

CCA film screening today<\/strong><\/p>\n

As part of its Oral Cancer Health Forum Program, the Commonwealth Cancer Association is inviting the public to its screening of the oral cancer documentary titled Chew today, Nov. 28, at 6pm at the American Memorial Park Visitors Center theater. (PR)<\/p>\n

MIFICPA to host Excel workshop<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Marianas Institute of Filipino CPAs and Accountants, is inviting all members to this year\u2019s workshop on advanced Microsoft Excel. The workshop will be on Dec. 2, 2017, a Saturday, from 8:30am to 12pm, at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe. Registration starts at 8am.<\/p>\n

There will be a $5 fee to cover incidentals. Non-members are welcome for a $15 seminar fee. Seats are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Most importantly, please bring your own laptop.<\/p>\n
