{"id":265418,"date":"2017-11-29T06:06:37","date_gmt":"2017-11-28T20:06:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=265418"},"modified":"2017-11-29T06:06:37","modified_gmt":"2017-11-28T20:06:37","slug":"probable-cause-found-vs-man-allegedly-attacked-group-men","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/probable-cause-found-vs-man-allegedly-attacked-group-men\/","title":{"rendered":"Probable cause found vs man who allegedly attacked group of men"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Probable cause was found to proceed with the filing of charges against Scott Patrick Owen, a man who, while allegedly drunk, attacked with a machete a group of Chinese men playing mahjong in San Antonio.<\/p>\n<p>At the preliminary hearing on Monday, probable cause was found to charge Owen with assault with a dangerous weapon and disturbing the peace. The 41-year-old Owen was directed to answer the charges. Arraignment will be on Dec. 4 at 9am.<\/p>\n<p>At the hearing, assistant attorney general Teri Tenorio called police detective Wally San Nicolas Emul Jr., to the witness stand. Chief Public Defender Douglas Hartig served as counsel for Owen.<\/p>\n<p>Police received a call about an assault with a dangerous weapon incident at the Sablan barracks compound last Nov. 18 at 1:36pm. One of the men sustained a laceration to the left forearm in the attack.<\/p>\n<p>The alleged victim told police that he was sitting with a Chinese man playing mahjong when Owen came and sat by the table, drinking a bottle of vodka. The victim said the problem started when he and his companions were speaking in Chinese. Owen stood up and yelled profanities at them. He then got a machete from his room and attacked them with it.<\/p>\n<p>The court has imposed a $25,000 cash bail on Owen.<\/p>\n<p>Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N.
