{"id":266431,"date":"2017-12-13T06:06:36","date_gmt":"2017-12-12T20:06:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=266431"},"modified":"2017-12-13T06:06:36","modified_gmt":"2017-12-12T20:06:36","slug":"70-remembered-candle-lighting-ceremony","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/70-remembered-candle-lighting-ceremony\/","title":{"rendered":"Over 70 remembered in candle-lighting ceremony"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Compassionate Friends of Saipan held its sixth Candle Lighting Remembrance Program last Sunday, Dec. 10, as part of The Compassionate Friends\u2019 21st Annual Worldwide Candle Lighting Service. <\/p>\n<p>Approximately 100 candles were lit in remembrance of those who were \u201cgone too soon.\u201d Over 70 children and siblings were honored with a candle and gentle memories by their loved ones.<\/p>\n<p>The group thanks everyone who planned, donated to, attended, supported or participated, specifically the CNMI Department of Lands and Natural Resources, Division of Parks &amp; Recreation; Marianas Variety; Saipan Tribune; KKMP; Monica Usi and the honor society of Mount Carmel School; Lorna Arcega; and Jim Arenovski.<\/p>\n<p>The Compassionate Friends of Saipan is a non-profit self-help organization that offers friendship, understanding and support to family members who have experienced the death of a son, daughter, brother, sister, or grandchild, and helps others better assist grieving families. Its monthly meetings are held on the first Thursday of the month, at 6pm in the Northern Marianas Protection &amp; Advocacy Systems Inc. conference room on Middle Road in Gualo Rai.
