{"id":266593,"date":"2017-12-15T06:06:30","date_gmt":"2017-12-14T20:06:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=266593"},"modified":"2017-12-15T06:06:30","modified_gmt":"2017-12-14T20:06:30","slug":"christmas-lights-go-along-beach-road","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/christmas-lights-go-along-beach-road\/","title":{"rendered":"Christmas lights go up along Beach Road"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Christmas is truly in the air and the lighted Christmas sculptures and decorations along the stretch of Beach Road from Garapan all the way to San Antonio adds to making the season brighter and more memorable.<\/p>\n<p>The Marianas Visitors Authority as part of its beautification program especially this time of the year, did not miss the opportunity to install Christmas lights along Beach Road intended to reinforce other MVA Christmas activities such as Christmas in the Marianas at the Paseo de Marianas in Garapan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMVA works hard to beautify our islands.\u00a0We ask for everyone\u2019s continued support of our efforts to promote and market the CNMI to the world,\u201d said Chris Concepcion, MVA managing director.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe light installation began the last week of November. They are on from approximately 6pm to 6am daily,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Cases of electric wire theft in the past while the Christmas display is ongoing did not discourage MVA from proceeding with the installation of the lighted Christmas sculptures and decorations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe did not install additional security measures as that would\u2019ve drove costs way up.\u00a0 We expect our partners at Department of Public Safety and other enforcement agencies to do their part to prevent crime from taking place,\u201d Concepcion said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe also expect our community to be on the lookout and ensure we take care of the lights so everyone enjoys them, residents and visitors.\u00a0 It\u2019s a pity to think that whenever we install or create new attractions we must also consider security measures to protect these sites.\u00a0 I\u2019m sure we\u2019ll get through this as we always do,\u201d Concepcion added.<\/p>\n<p>Concepcion said that the Christmas spirit that the MVA is promoting not only starts and end on Beach Road but in other parts of the island as well.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve installed brand new giant sculptures at Paseo de Marianas, including a giant gift box, giant Christmas ornament, giant Christmas tree and overhead lighting throughout PDM.\u00a0 We have light displays on each power pole from Garapan Fire Station to Garapan Fishing Base,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAside from the Christmas lighting sculptures all along Beach Road from Garapan to Chalan Piao and San Antonio, we participated in the First Lady\u2019s Christmas Village in Susupe,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Concepcion said that as 2017 comes to an end the community and tourists can expect better programs and events from MVA in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis year we saw many new sporting and community events.\u00a0 We hope for 2018 to be even better.\u00a0As we weather the uncertainty surrounding workforce and other issues, we are grateful to the community for embracing tourism as the main industry in our Commonwealth,\u201d he said <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe work the MVA does benefits everyone.\u00a0Let\u2019s continue our partnership as we bid 2017 adieu and welcome 2018,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Christmas is truly in the air and the lighted Christmas sculptures and decorations along the&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":30,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[4],"tags":[160,2714,212,135],"class_list":["post-266593","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-local-news","tag-beach-road","tag-chris-concepcion","tag-mva","tag-san-antonio"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/266593","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/30"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=266593"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/266593\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=266593"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=266593"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=266593"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
