Hinemlo\u2019ta yan I Direchotta is the theme that would drive the 3rd \u00c5mot Kumfirensia that Guam will host from Jan. 3 to 6, 2018 at the University of Guam.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s the first major event sponsored by the H\u00e5ya Cultural Heritage and Preservation Foundation, the University of Guam College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS) Dean\u2019s Office and the Chamorro Studies Program, Rota Mayor Efraim Atalig, CNMI\u2019s Inetnun Amut yan Kutturan Natibu\/Mwiischil Safey me Kkoor Aramasal Faluw, and Amot Farm.<\/p>\n
Topics to be covered through various presentation and demonstrations will include: The state of our health and well-being of our indigenous people; social, emotional, mental and NCDs and traditional healing; historical, current and future role of traditional healing practices of our indigenous peoples; emerging issues related to traditional healers; integrating traditional healing in hospitals, clinics, and the public health systems; traditional healing practice in the international arena; land use policies and medical plants habitats; research and ethno-botany on medicinal plants in the Marianas; and cultural and health significance of medicinal plants.<\/p>\n
The topics will certainly take the issues from the deeply rooted private practices to the discussion table and promises healthy and vibrant discussions.<\/p>\n
