(Contributed Photo)\n\t\t\t\t<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<p>Later this month, Mount Carmel School will join Eskuelan San Francisco de Borja on Rota and Catholic schools across the nation in celebrating Catholic Schools Week.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s CSW theme is \u201cCatholic Schools: Learn. Serve. Lead. Succeed,\u201d which was announced by the National Catholic Educational Association. <\/p>\n<p>Mount Carmel School president Galvin Deleon Guerrero is excited about the theme and the weeklong celebration. \u201cFor 65 years, our school has definitely helped mold students who learn, serve, lead, and succeed.\u201d Referring to the school\u2019s alumni, who are called AlumKnights after the school\u2019s mascot, Deleon Guerrero added, \u201cAt the local, regional, and even national levels, our AlumKnights have embraced this year\u2019s theme as successful leaders who serve their communities in business, government, and non-profits.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mount Carmel School has prepared a full week of events that highlight a different aspect of the school each day.\u00a0On\u00a0Sunday, Jan. 28, at 9am, MCS students will gather at the Mount Carmel Cathedral to kick off CSW 2018 with a Mass.\u00a0On Monday, MCS junior high and high school students will engage in different activities that support community services. Elementary school students will make banners expressing their appreciation for the school\u2019s many donors and supporters.\u00a0Tuesday\u00a0will be dedicated to MCS faculty and staff.\u00a0 On that day, MCS will hold an appreciation program for faculty and staff, in which the 2018 Teacher of the Year will be announced.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, MCS will start with a Mass, followed by a vocations talk and other activities honoring vocations. <\/p>\n<p>MCS will shift its attention\u00a0on Thursday, students honor the many ways that volunteer groups have contributed.\u00a0Friday morning will have MCS students participating in a roadside waving in the morning, followed by field activities and demonstrations.\u00a0Friday\u00a0night will highlight the school\u2019s signature CSW event, Family Night.\u00a0 Held on the school grounds beginning at\u00a06pm, Family Night will feature dinner, entertainment, and the presentation of the Parents of the Year awards.<\/p>\n<p>The school\u2019s celebration of Catholic Schools Week will conclude with the \u201cNight with the Knights\u201d AlumKnight fundraising banquet\u00a0on Saturday.\u00a0The \u201cNight with the Knights\u201d will feature a music video montage of the school\u2019s history, raffle prizes, and entertainment.\u00a0The event will also include the announcement of the 2018 AlumKnight of the Year.\u00a0Tickets for the Night with the Knights are $50 each and can be purchased at the school\u2019s business ofice or from AlumKnights. <\/p>\n<p>For more information, call 234-6184 or email Priscilla Dela Cruz at\u00a0presdelacruz@gmail.com.<br \/>\nThe celebration of Catholic Schools Week began as an annual event in 1974.
