(Contributed Photo)\n\t\t\t\t<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<p>Mount Carmel School is now accepting nominations for its annual AlumKnight of the Year award. <\/p>\n<p>A few years ago, the school revised its annual Distinguished Graduate Award to be more inclusive for more AlumKnights, or alumni of the school.\u00a0 Renamed the AlumKnight of the Year, nominations for the prestigious award are open to AlumKnights who spent at least four consecutive years at the school.<\/p>\n<p>School president Galvin Deleon Guerrero said this change helps the school honor many AlumKnights who, for legitimate reasons, had to transfer to other schools. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn some cases, AlumKnights spent over a decade at the school but had to transfer before graduation for family emergencies.\u00a0 Those AlumKnights, however, are still very loyal to their alma mater,\u201d he said. \u201cWe have this saying: \u00a0Once a Knight, always a Knight.\u00a0 Changing the award in this way made that saying more meaningful to the entire AlumKnight family.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Each and every year since 1998, Mount Carmel School has granted the award to individuals who have distinguished themselves as leaders in business, government, and the community and who represent the school\u02bcs trademark values of faith, excellence, and success.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p>The 2018 AlumKnight of the Year will be recognized, along with the AlumKnight Class of the Year, at the annual Knight with the Knights fundraising banquet, which will be the concluding event for Catholic Schools Week 2018. Tickets for the Night with the Knights are $50 each and can be purchased at the school\u2019s business office or from AlumKnights.
