No charges have been filed against Jaimie Omengkar after her younger brother, Kody Omengkar, shot himself and another brother, Kory Omengkar, while playing with the former police officer\u2019s firearm. <\/p>\n
According to chief prosecutor Michelle Harris in a statement to media last Friday, the Attorney General\u2019s Office has not made any final determination on Jaimie Omengkar\u2019s case.<\/p>\n
Department of Public Safety public information officer Jackie Rae said that no administrative investigation was conducted on Jaimie Omengkar as she resigned immediately after the incident.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe can only conduct investigations into DPS employees. Since she (Omengkar) resigned immediately, we cannot take any action against her,\u201d she said<\/p>\n
\u201cThat does not mean that the AG\u2019s office cannot. However, at this time, I am unaware if they are pursuing legal actions,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
According to Klyde Camacho, who was the driver, the three were at Jaimie Omengkar\u2019s home in San Roque on Dec. 21 when Klyde Omengkar asked to borrow her car to get something to eat.<\/p>\n
Camacho, along with Kory and Kody, drove to Twin\u2019s Supermarket in Dandan to buy food and left. A few seconds after getting into Chalan Monsignor Guerrero, Camacho heard a loud bang inside the car and saw Kory holding the left side of his chest, saying his back is feeling numb.<\/p>\n
Kory sustained a two-and-a-half inch laceration on the left side of his chest as a result of the gunshot wound. He is now in stable condition. Kody was treated for his injuries but was later discharged<\/p>\n
Kody\u2019s recollection of events started with the three of them leaving San Roque to buy food at Twin\u2019s Supermarket. He picked up Jamie Omengkar\u2019s police-issued belt on the floor to place it on the seat before disengaging the thumb safety of the weapon holster and pulling out the weapon.<\/p>\n
Kody admitted playing with the gun and pulling the trigger several times. He said that Klyde and Kory became mad at him for touching the weapon so he put it back in the holster.<\/p>\n
However, after leaving Twin\u2019s Supermarket, Kody said he pulled the trigger again, causing the weapon to discharge. The bullet grazed his leg and shot into the back of his brother, Kory, who was seated in the front passenger seat.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
