{"id":2685,"date":"2012-02-13T07:22:05","date_gmt":"2012-02-13T07:22:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newspaper.ctsi-logistics.com\/?p=2685"},"modified":"2012-02-13T07:22:05","modified_gmt":"2012-02-13T07:22:05","slug":"prosecution-defense-rest-in-the-case-of-guam-resident","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/prosecution-defense-rest-in-the-case-of-guam-resident\/","title":{"rendered":"Prosecution, defense rest in the case of Guam resident"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>By Ferdie de la Torre<br \/>\nReporter<\/div>\n<p>The prosecution and defense have rested their case in the ongoing federal jury trial of Melvin David Diaz, a 49-year-old Guam resident who is accused of impregnating a girl on Rota.<\/p>\n<p>After calling to the stand several witnesses, assistant U.S. attorney Clyde Lemons Jr. rested the prosecution&#8217;s case on Thursday. Defense attorney David G. Banes also rested their case on Friday after calling in some witnesses.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. District Court for the NMI designated judge Frances Tydingco-Gatewood, who presided over the trial, ordered the parties to hold closing arguments today, Monday, at 9:30am.
