The fifth member of the seven-member Commonwealth Zoning Board\u2014Patrick Villagomez Reyes\u2014was confirmed yesterday at the Saipan and Northern Islands Legislative Delegation meeting on Capitol Hill.<\/p>\n
Gov. Ralph DLG Torres nominated Reyes to the board last Nov. 29.<\/p>\n
The delegation managed to concur with the Torres\u2019 nomination only this month due to the holidays and several other requirements the delegation needed to deal with first, according to delegation chair Rep. John Paul Sablan (R-Saipan).<\/p>\n
In an interview after his confirmation, Reyes, who is an electrical and computer engineering graduate of the now defunct ITT Tech Institute Las Vegas, said he is ready to serve.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am going to focus on our main [economic driver], tourism,\u201d he said, adding that \u201csafety and security of the CNMI\u201d would also be in his sights.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am going to work with [other] experienced individuals, so I am looking forward to it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Other members of the Zoning board include chair Diego Blanco, Mario Taitano, Joe Ayuyu Jr., and Joel Camacho. Reyes has yet to be sworn into the board.<\/p>\n
