{"id":268815,"date":"2018-01-26T06:06:24","date_gmt":"2018-01-25T20:06:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=268815"},"modified":"2018-01-26T06:06:24","modified_gmt":"2018-01-25T20:06:24","slug":"castro-retention-november","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/castro-retention-november\/","title":{"rendered":"Castro up for retention this November"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CNMI Supreme Court Chief Justice Alexandro Cruz Castro is up for retention election at the Nov. 6, 2018, general election. <\/p>\n<p>Castro was nominated to serve as chief justice in September 2012. His eight-year term expires in 2020. <\/p>\n<p>Under the CNMI Constitution, the question whether justices or judges will be retained shall be put to a vote at a general election immediately before the end of that justice\u2019s or judge\u2019s term of office. <\/p>\n<p>Castro, 65, has yet to announce if he is interested in submitting to the retention election.<\/p>\n<p>He ascended to the CNMI Supreme Court bench in July 1998.
