{"id":269056,"date":"2018-01-31T06:06:16","date_gmt":"2018-01-30T20:06:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=269056"},"modified":"2018-01-31T06:06:16","modified_gmt":"2018-01-30T20:06:16","slug":"build-exito-recruitment-enters-4th-year-nmc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/build-exito-recruitment-enters-4th-year-nmc\/","title":{"rendered":"Build Exito recruitment enters 4th year at NMC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Northern Marianas College, in collaboration with Portland State University, is announcing its fourth round of recruitment for students interested in participating in the Build Exito program.<\/p>\n<p>The program is an undergraduate research training program funded by the National Institute of Health that trains students\/scholars who are interested in doing scientific research in biomedical, bioengineering, behavioral, clinical, health, and social topics.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe challenge our students to pursue their academic goals and interests through programs like Build Exito,\u201d said NMC president Dr. Carmen Fernandez. \u201cOpportunities like Build Exito can serve as a foundation for our students to practice skills related to their future careers\/interests in scientific fields.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The goals of the program are to help engage scholars in finding solutions to today\u2019s major health problems and to give them an opportunity to have hands-on, paid research experience. <\/p>\n<p>Participating scholars will have the opportunity to receive a stipend of over $1,000 per month, receive faculty and peer mentoring, and attend Portland State University to earn a bachelor of science degree.<\/p>\n<p>To be eligible to participate in the program, applicants must meet be either U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or non-citizen nationals; be full-time undergraduate students at NMC; have at least three years remaining in their degree program (projected graduation date no earlier than spring 2020), and have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.<\/p>\n<p>The application deadline is Feb. 14, 2018.
