The Commonwealth Utilities Corp. has experienced some delays in initiating some projects due to project planning, administration, and procurement issues, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. <\/p>\n
EPA environmental engineer F. Russell Mechem II also disclosed that CUC, EPA, and other parties have been holding fruitful discussions to further define upcoming CUC projects.<\/p>\n
Mechem said that CUC continued work on several projects using CUC\u2019s technical manager for Oil and the TMO fund.<\/p>\n
Mechem said CUC reports that it is moving ahead with contracts but has experienced some delays in performing some projects.<\/p>\n
He said the parties will have a discussion as part of a status conference to be held in federal court that will address the need to accelerate project start-up and implementation schedules.<\/p>\n
Mechem said discussion will also explore opportunities for CUC to perform limited environmental response or \u201cclean-up\u201d actions.<\/p>\n
The EPA has designated Mechem since November 2015 as technical representative and project coordinator for stipulated order number 2. SO2 requires a list of projects to be completed relating to oil spill prevention, preparedness, and response.<\/p>\n
Mechem\u2019s declaration was attached to the U.S. government\u2019s January 2018 status report on CUC projects submitted by the U.S. Department of Justice to the U.S. District Court for the NMI.<\/p>\n
Although fruitful discussions have been ongoing, Mechem said the parties will take advantage of in person meetings as part of the status conference to further define SO2 projects. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
