(Contributed Photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Pina Deleon Guerrero, senior HR manager for Fiesta Resort &amp; Spa Saipan, recently earned the designation as a certified professional in human resources.  <\/p>\n<p>The certification, awarded by the Society for Human Resource Management, signifies that Deleon Guerrero possesses the theoretical knowledge and practical experience in human resource management necessary to pass a rigorous examination demonstrating a mastery of the field.  <\/p>\n<p>HR professionals who implement policies and strategies, serve as point of contact for staff and stakeholders, deliver HR services, and perform operational HR functions are eligible to take this exam.  <\/p>\n<p>Achieving accreditation demonstrates that the SHRM-certified professional meets the high standards expected and needed in HR today.<\/p>\n<p>SHRM awards another level of certification: senior certified professional, or SHRM-SCP. Today, only six other HR professionals in the CNMI hold a certification from the HR Certification Institute and SHRM. To become certified, an applicant must pass a comprehensive examination and demonstrate a strong background of professional human resource experience. <\/p>\n<p>Wendi Herring, Fiesta Resort &amp; Spa Saipan\u2019s general manager, lauds Deleon Guerrero for her success. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is truly a pleasure working with Pina and I am exceptionally proud of this accomplishment,\u201d said Herring. \u201cHer commitment to hours of studying [while] working full-time and balancing family demands is absolutely admirable and commendable.\u00a0 I have always considered her to be an authentic HR professional, but now she has the credentials to back it up.\u201d  Malou Ernest, SPHR, GPHR, SHRM-SCP and Asia Pacific Hotels Inc. HR director, said: \u201cPina worked hard to obtain her certification.\u00a0I\u2019m proud of her accomplishment and how she has inspired the rest of our HR team to strive to attain their own credentials.\u00a0These HR certifications are measures of knowledge and abilities in the field. It gives our organization a competitive advantage in today\u2019s very challenging economy and labor environment.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP\u00a0exams have been accredited by The Buros Center for Testing, a pronouncement that the HR credentials meet the highest standards in testing. \u00a0The Buros Center is the premier test review center at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.<\/p>\n<p>A SHRM certification proves not only what\u00a0you know in HR but\u00a0also how you effectively implement that\u00a0knowledge in the workplace.
