{"id":269346,"date":"2018-02-02T06:06:47","date_gmt":"2018-02-01T20:06:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=269346"},"modified":"2018-02-02T06:06:47","modified_gmt":"2018-02-01T20:06:47","slug":"total-number-voters-16583-far","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/total-number-voters-16583-far\/","title":{"rendered":"Total number of voters at 16,583 so far"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A total of 490 persons, mostly those who had just graduated from high school, joined the roster of new Commonwealth voters last year.<\/p>\n<p>According to Commonwealth Election Commission executive director Julita Villagomez, about 38 more registered in January 2018, bringing the number of new voters to 528.<\/p>\n<p>As of early this week, there are now 13,116 registered voters on Saipan and the Northern Islands, 1,643 on Tinian, and 1,824 on Rota\u2014for a total of 16,583 registered voters in the CNMI, Villagomez said <\/p>\n<p>On Saipan, the most number of registered voters are from San Vicente, which has 2,435. Garapan closely follows with 2,422 registered voters.<\/p>\n<p>There were a total of 17,928 registered voters in the 2016 general election.<\/p>\n<p>This Nov. 6, 2018, general election will include the selection of a governor and lieutenant governor.<\/p>\n<p>The commission opened the registration period a week after the November 2016 election.
