Ralph DLG Torres\u2019 appointees to the Commonwealth Election Commission and Commonwealth Scholarship Office board were approved last Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Patricia Mareham was unanimously approved for the CEC position as the female Carolinian representative of Saipan while Charlene Masiwemai was approved unanimously for a slot on the CSO board.<\/p>\n<p>Masiwemai was nominated last Dec. 29, 2017, but was unable to attend the Senate session on Capital Hill last week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Committee on Executive Appointments and Government Investigations recommends that the Senate give its advice and consent to [Masiwemai] to serve as a member of the CSO board,\u201d said committee chair Sen. Francisco Cruz (R-Tinian) on the Senate floor.<\/p>\n<p>The committee expressed the same for Mareham.<\/p>\n<p>Mareham, who is an outreach coordinator at the Women\u2019s Affairs Office, said she would be of as much help as possible to the CEC.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will do my best with my colleagues to see what we can do about the challenges we had in prior years,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Mareham would be filling former commissioner Trinidad Rabauliman\u2019s slot at the CEC.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m just new, so I would need to go by the book and pick up fast,\u201d she said. \u201cI would do my best to serve the Refaluwasch community.\u201d <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Both of Gov.
