{"id":269696,"date":"2018-02-08T06:00:35","date_gmt":"2018-02-07T20:00:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=269696"},"modified":"2018-02-08T06:00:35","modified_gmt":"2018-02-07T20:00:35","slug":"new-saipan-fire-lane-regs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/new-saipan-fire-lane-regs\/","title":{"rendered":"NEW SAIPAN FIRE LANE REGS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Effective Feb. 26, 2018, the Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services will start implementing on Saipan new fire lane regulations established by Public Law 19-69. <\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The obstruction of a designated fire lane is prohibited and is considered an immediate hazard to life and property.<br \/>\n\u2022 Designated fire lanes along sidewalks and streets are painted red. The lanes are marked \u201cNo Parking\u2014Fire Lane.\u201d<br \/>\n\u2022 Vehicles parked in fire lane will be towed.<br \/>\n\u2022 A police officer or firefighter shall issue a citation for violation.<br \/>\n\u2022 If an operator refuses to sign citation, he\/she will be arrested.<br \/>\n\u2022 The person charged with the violation may give his or her written promise to appear in court by signing at least one copy of the written traffic citation.<br \/>\n\u2022 Contact DFEMS Fire Station in Susupe at 664-9004 to verify if car is towed.<br \/>\n\u2022 Pay citation at the Superior Court and provide proof of payment to DFEMS.<br \/>\n\u2022 Citation is $150 per violation; towing fee is $220 for vehicles weighing less than 11,000 lbs, and $350 for vehicles weighing more than 350 lbs.; and daily impoundment rate is $20.
