A 6.2 magnitude earthquake occurred 86 miles east of Rota yesterday morning, but there were no reports of damage to property, nor did it cause a tsunami threat.<\/p>\n
A Rota police officer told Saipan Tribune that he did not feel the shaking and that there was no reported damage to property or injuries on the island.<\/p>\n
On Saipan, some residents felt the jolt and even evacuated their offices for a few minutes.<\/p>\n
Liza, 25, said that, although she did not feel the earthquake, she saw some employees of a government agency in Dandan gathering outside their office because of the jolt.<\/p>\n
According to the CNMI Joint Information Center, the earthquake, which had a depth of 26 miles, happened at 9:14am and that some areas may have experienced shaking. <\/p>\n
