It used to be that we would feed the group on Thanksgiving or Christmas time but everyone was feeding the group so we thought it would mean more if we just gave them money,” she said.

Cavanagh said a monetary donation was a better choice. That way, the man’amko can choose what they want to use the money on, like their upcoming trip to Rota in May.

“That way they can go ahead and use the money as they deem necessary, and it looks like they are trying to raise money to go to Rota,” she said.

Nishikawa said that it is always a great experience to give back to the man’amko.

“Every time I come here, which is every year, I always gain energy from them (the man’amko),” said Nishikawa.

Office on Aging director Walter Manglona said that he and all the man’amko are appreciative of HANMI’s generosity.

“The kind of good deeds that they do, we don’t forget that. They’re basically embedded in our clients’ hearts…that HANMI is thinking about them every year,” he said.

The Hotel Association of the Northern Mariana Islands donated $1,000 to the Office on Aging…

[4
3687,301,524,5333
post-270222","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-local-news","tag-gloria-cavanagh","tag-hanmi","tag-nick-nishikawa","tag-walter-manglona
["GET
