{"id":270526,"date":"2018-02-21T06:00:54","date_gmt":"2018-02-20T20:00:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=270526"},"modified":"2018-02-21T06:00:54","modified_gmt":"2018-02-20T20:00:54","slug":"employee-owed-10k-wages","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/employee-owed-10k-wages\/","title":{"rendered":"Employee owed over $10K in wages"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The CNMI Department of Labor has ordered a car rental company to pay an employee $10,772.23 for 11 months\u2019 worth of unpaid wages.<\/p>\n<p>ABO International Corp., which does business as ABO Rent-a-Car, was ordered to pay Teresita Reyes $7,227.44 for services from September 2015 to August 2016, when Reyes quit her job.<\/p>\n<p>DOL found Reyes is owed a total of $10,772.23. She was first hired as a cleaner from 8am to 5pm. However, after a few months, she was required to come in the weekends  to do work not expected of her at the time of her hiring.<\/p>\n<p>Reyes believed that she is owed at least more than the agreed $300 per month as first discussed. Her employer, referred to as Zhong, was also found to not be reliable in employee timekeeping as discovered by a DOL investigator handling the case.<\/p>\n<p>Reyes held her own records of her work hours and presented it to the DOL as evidence.<\/p>\n<p>In essence, Reyes was supposed to receive a payout of over $10,772.23.
