Camacho suspended yesterday the proceedings in the theft case filed against a former Office of the Public Auditor employee. <\/p>\n<p>Camacho ordered that the case against Violita Agulto Diaz be taken off-calendar and that the status conference scheduled for Feb. 28 ibes vacated.<\/p>\n<p>Camacho ordered the suspension of the proceedings at the Office of the Attorney General\u2019s request on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>In the government\u2019s motion, assistant attorney general Heather P. Barcinas disclosed that Diaz was accepted into the Adult Diversion Program under the Office of Adult Probation.<\/p>\n<p>Barcinas said the government and the defense will be executing an adult diversion program agreement that will be filed with the court.<\/p>\n<p>Diversion means the OAG is not going for conviction. Rather, a defendant will pay a certain amount and perform community service, and other conditions if he or she qualifies under the program.<\/p>\n<p>If Diaz completes the program, she will not have a criminal conviction.<\/p>\n<p>Last October, OAG filed an information charging Diaz of stealing $900 from OPA. The defendant allegedly took the money from OPA\u2019s petty cash on Aug. 8, 2016. Diaz was at the time an employee of OPA.<\/p>\n<p>Diaz was not arrested as she was only summoned to appear in court. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N.
